Ruling majority concerned whether it would be able to achieve 3% budget deficit

The tax laws will be revised and the budget will be revised. This is what GERB MP Delyan Dobrev, chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee in the parliament told the Bulgarian National Radio. The European Commission certainly has concerns about whether Bulgaria will be able to draw up a budget with a 3% deficit within 2025, Dobrev said.

"What we and the EC see is that the starting point of the deficit is 9%, not 3%. The 18 billion in question is a deficit that is no longer in dispute. With a 9% deficit we cannot enter the eurozone. Therefore, it is better to try to reduce it to 3% and only then submit the request for a convergence report. With a 9% deficit, Greece went bankrupt 4-5 years ago," Dobrev recalled.
