After it became clear that the Bulgarian Weightlifting Federation was on the verge of bankruptcy, DPS-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski met with the federation's president Stefan Botev and promised to find a solution to the problem.

Peevski and Botev stressed that the federation's licence should not be withdrawn and that the Bulgarian athletes, who have brought so much pride to Bulgaria, should not be left without support.
