In connection with the incident involving a drone intercepted in the vicinity of Sofia Airport last night, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov pointed to the need of anti-drone security systems within the perimeter of airports.
At a meeting with Georgi Peev, Director General of the state company Air Traffic Control, Minister Karadjov gave instructions to the company to propose a technical solution for a drone early warning and monitoring system. Minister Karadjov stated further that conventional anti-drone systems are not applicable at these sites because they could affect communications and the navigation equipment.
