The Vienna Ball in Sofia was opened by the authentic orchestra of Johann Strauss, with which the organizers of the secular event paid tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Waltz King. The ball, which is under the patronage of the mayors of Sofia and Vienna and the Austrian ambassador Andrea Ikic-Böhm, is organized by the Vienna Club association. This is the 24th ball to be organized in Sofia.

The Vienna Balls are not only secular events. Every year they have a different charitable cause. “This year, the “Blue Rooms” project is supported, which aims to protect children who are at risk of domestic violence.

“The Vienna Ball is more than a social event. It reflects the very good relations between Vienna and Sofia and between Austria and Bulgaria. The music of Johann Strauss has captured the hearts of millions of people around the world. "That is why we are celebrating this anniversary in Sofia, which values Viennese culture so much," said Ambassador Andrea Ikic-Böhm.

Guests at the ball were Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev with his wife, Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadjov, Minister of Agriculture Georgi Tahov and Mayor Vasil Terziev, BGNES reports.
