Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov met, in Washington, with Laura Lochman, US Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Energy Resources.

The two discussed the construction of a vertical gas corridor for diverse and sustainable gas deliveries towards Eastern, Southeastern and Central Europe. “We expect to obtain a construction permit, by the end of the month, for the Kulata-Kresna section, shortly after which we plan to break ground,” Minister Stankov said. Other talking points included the delivery of LNG from the US via the terminals in Alexandroupolis and countries neighbnouring on Bulgaria, as an option for reaching the heart of Europe.

During the meeting, Zhecho Stankov laid emphasis on the construction of reactors 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy NPP using the Westinghouse technology as a priority for the Bulgarian government, BGNES reports.
