Solemn ceremonies across Bulgaria will pay homage to Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski

A commemorative ceremony today in the center of Sofia will mark the 152nd anniversary of the death of Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski. The solemn ceremony in front of the Monument to the Apostle of Freedom will begin at 6:00 p.m. Citizens will have access to the security zone from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. through three checkpoints, the National Guard announced. 
The National Guard will place an honorary guard in front of the monument throughout the day. From 11:00 a.m., the Representative Military Brass Band of the Land Forces will participate in a ritual in front of the Levski monument in the capital's Gorublyane district.

At a special ceremony today at 9:00 a.m., Sofia Airport will be named after Vasil Levski.

Ceremonies, rituals and processions in memory of the Apostle of Freedom are taking place throughout the country. The commemorative events began on February 16 with a pilgrimage and a commemorative rally in front of the monument of Vasil Levski in the Muldavski Monastery of St. Petka.
