Our compatriots in Las Vegas organized a number of events related to the Bulgarian holidays in March, with the main focus being the National Day of Bulgaria (March 3) and the Bulgarian tradition of wearing twisted white and red threads (martenitsas) on the first day of March, reported our associate in Las Vegas, Maria Samichkova.
The first event dedicated to the National Day of Bulgaria took place a week ago with the traditional mini-football tournament. This was followed by workshops for making Martenitsas and festive performances organized by the educational institutions attended by the children of Bulgarians living there.

All the students from the three Bulgarian schools in the city prepared a festive program for the National Day of Bulgaria, Maria Samichkova further said.

"Students from the newest school in the city, ''Bulgarchе'', along with their teachers and parents, gathered in the classrooms and made colorful Martenitsas with the Bulgarian tricolor''.
The kids from the Children's Academy ''Rodna Rech'' decided to greet Baba Marta outdoors in nature as here, in Las Vegas, it’s already warm and green", says Maria Samichkova. "The students from the First Bulgarian School ''Vasil Levski'' in Las Vegas celebrated the National Day of Bulgaria with a special ceremony."

As every year, the children prepared an interesting and varied program with songs and folk dances. "Their choreographer, Rayna Nedelcheva, who for many years has been one of the most active Bulgarians in Las Vegas, made sure that the celebration was very festive", Maria Samichkova told Radio Bulgaria.
