Poll: The majority of Bulgarians celebrate 8 March

The majority of Bulgarians (63%) celebrate International Women's Day on 8 March. The holiday is more respected by women, with almost 8 out of 10 responding positively. Almost two-thirds of women (65%) say they feel more special on this day. This is the result of an opinion poll conducted by Trend Agency for 24 Chasa Daily between 10 and 16 February 2025.

43% of Bulgarians believe that 8 March is all about a festive atmosphere. Three out of ten people (30%) think that the date has an important social meaning besides the festive spirit. This opinion is more common among women. For 18%, the holiday is outdated and unimportant.

The dominant opinion is that 8 March is a holiday for all women - 62% of respondents say so. For 20% it is Mother's Day. For 8% the date is a socialist holiday and 5% associate it most with the struggle for women's rights.
