“Bulgaria’s defence industry has a huge potential, we have to promote it,” said Foreign Minister Georg Geigriev in an interview with bTV. “I believe the strategic partnership between the EU and the US must continue,” he said and added that everything now happening shows the extent to which the EU and the US are integrated with one another in the military sphere, defence and trade.

We should continue to deepen this cooperation and try to find ways to invest in it. Breaking this alliance is to nobody’s advantage, the Bulgarian foreign minister said.

The EU should take part at the negotiating table with Russia and Ukraine on a cessation of hostilities, and the country’s position must be very clear, Georg Gergiev said.

“It is always a good thing when the institutions speak with one voice. I am sorry to see there is a discord between the messages conveyed because in foreign policy we have to look in the same direction when we are talking. In this case, the Bulgarian government stands solidly on this terrain and in concord with the parliamentary majority,” Minister Georgiev said.
