Plovdiv has been selected as the wine capital of Europe for 2025, indicates a survey by the European Best Destinations tourist organization, Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov has announced.
More than 284,000 people from 82 countries chose Plovdiv over emblematic wine regions such as Bordeaux, La Rioja and Tuscany, asserting Plovdiv’s place on the map of wine destinations, Kostadin Dimitrov says, adding that this is so much more than just a title – it is a powerful visibility instrument.
Plovdiv hosts one of the most prestigious world competitions Digital Wine Communications Conference, the organization says, and goes on that different varieties are produced in the region such as Mavrud, Rubin, Malaga, Cabernet Sauvignon etc.
