The Bulgarian National Assembly is holding an extraordinary meeting at which MPs are hearing the senior management of the Central Election Commission and the Information Service company regarding their actions in the Constitutional Court case challenging the legality of the elections for members of parliament in the 51st National Assembly. The session was convened by order of Parliament Speaker Natalia Kiselova earlier in the day.

Ivaylo Filipov, executive director of Information Service company

"In total, the votes that have 'disappeared' are 780 for all political parties - for the political parties that are in the National Assembly at the moment, plus the Velichie party, since it is currently a borderline case," Ivaylo Filipov, executive director of the Information Service company, told deputies.

President Rumen Radev told journalists that if the responsible institutions do not finish their work on the case of verifying the election results, he may convene the National Security Advisory Council. According to the head of state, it is unacceptable for state bodies to obstruct the work of the Constitutional Court to rule on the legality of the election.

Kamelia Neykova, chairperson of the Central Election Commission
"Someone is trying to bring a new party into parliament through the back door," said Delyan Peevski, the chairman of the "DPS-New Beginning", on the sidelines of parliament, commenting on the scandal surrounding the recount of part of the votes in the last parliamentary elections. He insisted on an immediate change of the CEC and admitted that if the vote would be annulled, early elections would be a "wonderful option".

According to the chairman of the parliamentary group of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms-DPS", Dzhevdet Chakarov, there are scandalous attempts to prevent the Constitutional Court from doing its job, which destabilizes the state.

The leader of MЕCH, Radostin Vassilev, demanded that the vote be cancelled and called for new elections: "This is outrageous. We haven't had such a scandal since the start of the democratic transition. The Central Election Commission, Information Service, the Constitutional Court and the Prosecutor's Office are creating an unprecedented mess", said Radostin Vasilev.
