The recalculation of election results changes the 4% barrier for entry into parliament

With 13 votes "in favor" and 2 votes "against" – those of Georgi Bahanov and Dimitar Dimitrov from GERB's quota – the Central Election Commission approved the recalculation of the election results from the parliamentary elections held in October 2024, as requested by the Constitutional Court. The decision and the accompanying documents are being sent to the Constitutional Court.

From Georgi Bahanov's reasoning for the negative vote, it became clear that changes have been established in the 4% threshold for entering parliament and in its composition. "Some MPs who have already been elected and announced as such will have to leave their seats and others will take their place", Georgi Bahanov commented. "If 4,404 or 6,606, or 9,000, or all 12,000 polling stations were checked, the results would certainly be completely different, a different picture from what we are presenting based on the checked 2,204 polling stations", noted Georgi Bahanov.
