A fifth boycott of large retail chains has been announced for today. The organizers also called on citizens to refrain from using banking services.
The initiators state that the boycott will continue until effective measures are taken to reduce the prices of food products in retail chains. During the first boycott, the retail chains reported a 30% decrease in turnover, while in the second, it was less than 3%. However, during the third and fourth boycotts, their turnover increased by 2 million BGN (EUR 1 million) and 4 million BGN (EUR 2 million), respectively.
Meanwhile, it emerged that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has drafted a bill to shorten the supply chain, facilitating direct links between producers and consumers. This measure is expected to lead to more affordable prices.
