Iranian film director Mohammad Rasoulof has received the special award of the international film critics FIPRESCI Platinum at the Sofia Film Festival. He was awarded the prize during the Sofia Film Fest before the screening of his new film “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”.
The drama tells the story of a judicial investigator in Iran who turns against his family after the protests in the Islamic Republic that erupted after the murder of Jona Mahsa Amini. The film includes real footage filmed with mobile phones by demonstrators.

I believe that creating works of art is my right and there is no reason not to fight for this right, said Rasoulof. He adds that the main goal of his work is to tell stories about freedom and human rights or the lack thereof in the environment in which he lives.
