Trade unions organize protest for decent wages in public sector

One of the two major trade unions in Bulgaria - the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), is organizing a protest under the motto "We want a visible increase in wages with Budget 2025.. 

The protest will start at 8:00 a.m. near the official entrance of the parliament in Sofia

The union insists on raising wages in sectors that are underfunded, as well as in sectors in which pay disparities are increasing. 

Unions demand that an additional 250 million leva /128 million EUR/ be provided in the 2025 budget, which will allow for an increase in salaries in the National Social Security Institute, the Social Assistance Agency, the Employment Agency, the National Revenue Agency, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the National Health Insurance Fund, the ministries of health, the environment, the Bulgarian State Railways, the Bulgarian National Radio, the Bulgarian National Television, and the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. 


Additional funding is also needed for school and child health care, public transport in Sofia and in the country, structures at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Road Infrastructure Agency, Bulgarian Posts, and others.
