Vesela Lecheva is the new chairwoman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. At the general meeting of the organization, Lecheva, who is the chairwoman of the Bulgarian Shooting Union, prevailed over the long-time head of the Olympic movement in Bulgaria, Stefka Kostadinova.
Thus, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee will have a new chairwoman for the first time since November 2005, when Stefka Kostadinova replaced Ivan Slavkov.

The two former athletes are some of the most titled Bulgarian women in the history of Bulgarian sport. Kostadinova held the phenomenal world record of 209 cm in the high jump for nearly 37 years, and Lecheva was elected the number 1 shooter of the 20th century in the survey of the World Shooting Federation.
