Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev had a phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar expressed condolences to the family of the Bulgarian who died in Gaza. Gideon Sa'ar explained that according to the Israeli army, the tragic incident in Gaza, in which two UN staff members were killed, was not related to their actions. However, the investigation into the case continues until the causes of the incident are fully clarified.

The Israeli army denies hitting the UN compound in Deir al-Balah, stating that it struck a Hamas target in northern Gaza, where preparations for launching missiles at Israel were detected. The two victims were employees of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
