Bulgaria has improved its rating in the World Happiness Report, but remains 85th out of 147 countries, which is the lowest position for an EU country, indicates data of this year's edition of the report, which is published annually around March 20 – the International Day of Happiness. The World Happiness Report is prepared by the University of Oxford in collaboration with Gallup International.

The happiness rating is measured through people's perceptions, as well as social and economic indicators, including GDP per capita, inequality, freedom, social support, life expectancy, generosity and perceptions of corruption. The three-year average life evaluation for Bulgaria is 5.554, marking an improvement of 1.573 compared to the first report in 2012.

Finland again tops the ranking with a life evaluation of 7.736, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and the Netherlands.
