Businesses along the Black Sea coast are actively looking for workers for the summer season

Intense preparations are underway on the Southern Black Sea coast for the upcoming summer season. The first tourists are expected for Easter, and businesses are actively seeking thousands of workers, reports public service broadcaster BNT. The industry promises 10% higher salaries compared to 2024, but still reports a shortage of staff.

Businesses will rely on more workers from third countries, as Bulgarians prefer year-round employment. Because of the slow procedures, preparations for issuing visas began back in November. Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen further prolongs this process. Hoteliers are concerned that some of the arriving workers may go to other countries, as was the case last summer. The most sought-after workers are cleaners, waiters and bartenders, with salaries ranging from 1,400 to 2,500 BGN (EUR 715 - EUR 1,278).
