Eurobarometer survey: 61% of Bulgarians say that Bulgaria has benefited from being a member of the EU

61% of Bulgarians say that their country has benefited from being a member of the EU, a Eurobarometer survey shows.

This indicator is the lowest in the entire European Union, but marks an increase of 8% compared to the previous survey from June-July last year, reports BNR’s correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova. By comparison, 74% of EU citizens say that their countries have benefited from EU membership, which is the highest result since the survey began.

54% of Bulgarians say that the EU brings people new work opportunities. 29% say that the EU contributes to protecting peace and strengthening security. 29% say that membership of the EU improves cooperation between Bulgaria and the other countries of the EU.

62% of Bulgarians say that the role of the European Union to protect European citizens against global crises and security risks should become more important.
