April Fools’ Day will be marked with a rich festive program at the Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo. The institution is celebrating 53 years since its founding today and, as tradition dictates, will showcase the town's generosity with free events for children and adults. Among them are a creative comics workshop, a Gabrovo party, performances, etc.

The House of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo was opened on April 1, 1972. The main force behind its creation was Stefan Fartunov (1926-2010), who was also the first director of the cultural institution. Over the years, the museum has become a modern and unique cultural center, built under the motto ''The world survived because it laughed''. Various festivals and wordplay meetings are organized at the museum, and humorous collections are published. An experimental variety theater also operates there. The main legacy the museum passes on to new generations is ''when the world begins to talk about something, it is already done in Gabrovo''.

On April 1, 1976, a small planet No 2206 was named after Gabrovo in honor of the folklore humor that has made the city famous worldwide, reported BTA.
