The project company "Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities", working on the construction of the new units No. 7 and No. 8 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, has begun negotiations with Bulgarians who live abroad and have experience in nuclear power plants in order to attract them to work in the company.

This became clear during yesterday's visit of the Ministers of Energy and Education Zhecho Stankov and Krasimir Valchev to the Kozloduy NPP.

According to Valchev, the Kozloduy NPP currently lacks 76 nuclear engineers. The plant's Executive Director Ivan Andreev added that on average between 130 and 150 people from the company retire annually.

Bulgaria's only NPP currently offers a scholarship program and works with the vocational high schools in Kozloduy, Mizia and Belene and with the Technical University to help build personnel for the industry.

The commissioning of the first of the two new units at Kozloduy NPP using Westinghouse technology is expected in 2033–2034.
