Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has announced that Bulgaria is ready to join the eurozone. She made the statement at a business breakfast hosted by the American and British Chambers of Commerce in Bulgaria. Minister Petkova emphasised that Bulgaria has never been closer to adopting the single European currency and expressed the hope that the country will join the euro zone from 1 January 2026.

In her speech, she also highlighted key government priorities, including Bulgaria's membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the effective absorption and use of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), and ongoing efforts to combat the grey economy.

Bulgarian National Bank Governor Dimitar Radev supported the statement, noting that Bulgaria is in a strong position to join the euro area. He also pointed out that in the context of global uncertainties, strengthening ties with strategic economic alliances is more important than ever.
