With two world records in his new category up to 97 kg, Bulgarian weightlifter Carlos Nassar won the European title, leaving no doubt who the current and future leader is.

The Olympic gold medalist from Paris improved his best achievements in the clean and jerk by one kilogram each on the way to his title in Chisinau. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 188 kg, and with 417 kg in the total he built on the achievement of Colombian Lesman Paredes Montano from Tashkent 2021.

Second in the category was Georgian Revaz Davitadze with 379 kg – 38 kg less than the Bulgarian. Third was Armenian Davit Hovhannisyan with 376 kg.

In addition to the all-around, Karlos Nasar won gold medals in both movements.

The Bulgarian weightlifter's title is the third for our country at the European Championships after those of Angel Rusev and Ivan Dimov.
