"The socio-political processes among the Bulgarian communities in Albania and Kosovo from the early 19th century to the present, and the influence they have on the demographic development and territorial distribution of our compatriots in these regions, are traced in the latest scientific work by Dr. Spas Tashev from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Special emphasis is placed on the period 1944-1990, which has not been researched at all in Bulgarian science, reads the press release of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, which organized the printing and presentation of the book.
Representatives of these communities, as well as researchers and students studying at Bulgarian universities under Decree 103 of the Council of Ministers, are invited to attend the premiere of the book ''Bulgarian Communities in Albania and Kosovo: Socio-Political Processes and Demographic Consequences (1913-2024)''. Vice President Iliana Iotova is also expected to attend the event.
"Dr. Spas Tashev's work will be officially presented on April 23 at the Bulgarian Cultural Center on 13 Vesletz Street. The book is part of the publishing program of the Agency", says Lili Spasova, Senior Expert at the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. According to Dr. Spas Tashev, his work is aimed at politicians, diplomats and statesmen, but I believe the book would be interesting and useful to anyone who wants to learn more about this historical community in Albania and Kosovo. It contains many published documents and interesting statistics, including up to 2023. It is written in an extremely engaging way, even for someone who is not a historian, like me", says Lili Spasova.
Dr. Spas Tashev is a researcher on migration and demography. He graduated from the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), and Trakia University. He is the founder and first director of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center in Skopje. From 1998 to 2002, he served as Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. He holds a PhD in Statistics and Demography from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and is a lecturer at the Southwest University "Neofit Rilski" in Blagoevgrad."
