Nearly 100 spit-roasted lambs (chevermeta) will be prepared for the festival in Zlatograd. The town’s vibrant festival is dedicated to the iconic Rhodope delicacy. The event, rich in music and traditional costumes, is expected to draw thousands of guests and tourists to the picturesque mountain town on May 3 and 4, according to the municipal administration.

The art of making Zlatograd-style cheverme will be demonstrated live. The festival will open with a performance by the "101 Kaba Gaidi" bagpipe orchestra and a concert by the "Rodopa" ensemble. Popular Rhodope folk singers and visiting bands from Greece will also perform. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of traditional Rhodope dishes.

All the hotels and guesthouses in Zlatograd are fully booked not only for this year's festival but also for next year's. The festival is becoming increasingly popular not only with Bulgarians but also with Greek visitors. New accommodation facilities are being planned in the town, Mayor Miroslav Yanchev said in a statement to BNR-Kardzhali.
