The largest drop is seen in applications for protection filed by Afghans - 1,980 people, while a year earlier there were 5,906 applications. The number of refugees from Egypt is rising - from 184 in 2023 to 654. A total of 483 of the Egyptians were also registered as unaccompanied minors.

A total of 4,950 people received international protection in the country last year. Out of 60,864 Ukrainian refugees, only 5,961 rely on the Bulgarian state for accommodation and humanitarian aid.
