Vice President Iliana Yotova, Minister of Culture Marian Bachev and the Mayor of Montenegro's historic capital Cetinje Nikola Djurašković have named a street in the city after Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov.

In the Balkans, we share a common history, and in order to live well today, to lend a helping hand in difficult times, and to continue to move forward together, we must respect this shared memory," said Vice-President Yotova. - Good neighbourliness means continuing to know each other in this world so divided by war. Not through conflict, division and rewriting of history, not through stealing history and historical facts, but through good neighbourliness that honours our common memory," she stressed.

"Ivan Vazov was the only foreign writer who wrote about Montenegro. Tomorrow the children who live here will know who Vazov is, they will know our history and what unites us," Yotova added.
The naming of the street is a joint initiative of the municipalities of Cetinje and the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo, according to which the street in Cetinje will be named after Ivan Vazov, while the street in Veliko Tarnovo will be named after Peter II Petrović Njegoš, reports Portal Analitika, an online news portal based in Montenegro.
