The idea of a referendum on the euro is supported by 63.3% of Bulgarians and 35.3% are "against". This is shown by an independent poll by the Myara sociological agency conducted in the period 10-13 May among 803 people and representing the opinions of the adult population of the country.
If a national referendum were held in Bulgaria with the question "Do you agree that Bulgaria should adopt the single European currency "euro" in 2026?", 34.4% of respondents indicated that they would vote yes/agree, and 54.9% - that they would vote no/disagree. The rest will not vote or are hesitant.

The data repeat a series of surveys going back years.

Clearly, much more information work is needed - especially against the background of the otherwise very high approval of Bulgarians towards the European Union as a whole, sociologists comment.

They remind that according to research, Bulgarians place the EU in first place in terms of positive attitude among all possible geopolitical factors. The positive attitude towards the EU is 64.4%, and the negative one is 25.5%.
