"The Untamed" is the name of the team comprising four rowers from the boat Rannoch 45 ''Rose'', who have set off from the western coast of Australia across the Indian Ocean toward Kenya, Africa. On board are Evgeny Sudyr from Ukraine, Liu Yong from China, Ralph Tuijn from the Netherlands (owner and captain of the rowing boat), and Stefan Ivanov from Bulgaria, co-skipper of the boat, BTA reported.
The men will be rowing around the clock over a distance of more than 4,500 nautical miles (8,300 km). In addition to picturesque sunsets and sunrises, they will face shifting winds, waves, currents, sharks and other risks, including potential encounters with pirates along the African coast.
Stefan Ivanov has already completed successful rowing expeditions across the Atlantic Ocean, the Southern (Antarctic) Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. He noted that they will continue collecting ocean samples, which will be provided to scientists at Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski.
