A commemorative postage stamp marking May 24 — the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and Slavic literacy — as well as the 20th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, was officially validated today. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Transport and Communications and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadzhov, as well as BTA Director General Kiril Valchev.
Minister Karadzhov said that just as letters form words and give voice when combined, the stamp, though small, carries great significance — it is a unique monument that will endure over time.
The stamp features a mural of Saints Cyril and Methodius painted at the entrance to the Klisurski Monastery. It has a face value of 0.95 leva and includes the inscription '20th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media' in both Bulgarian and English, along with the event's theme: 'Media and Knowledge'.
The design is by Lyudmil Veselinov, an artist and the current regional governor of Pernik Province.
