Delian Peevski, leader of the DPS–New Beginning party, met with Dzhevdet Chakarov, chairman of the Democracy, Rights and Freedoms parliamentary group DPS–DPS (aligned with Ahmed Dogan). During an in-depth discussion, the two agreed that “the page of division and confrontation that has marked the past few months must be closed.” This information was released by the DPS–New Beginning party press office.
According to the press release, both leaders believe that the primary goal of any political party is to serve the people and resolve their issues, and that the DPS must emerge from this crisis united and stronger than ever.
"Unity for the sake of the people and the integrity of the party is the only way to guarantee the fulfilment of all the commitments and expectations that voters have placed on us," the statement read. For this to happen, Assoc. Prof. Dr Dzhevdet Chakarov is resigning as chairman of the DPS–DPS.
“There is no agreement on any merger or unification. The party leadership and Ahmed Dogan are aware of all the processes,” said Hasan Azis, a member of the new DPS Presidium headed by Ahmed Dogan, in an interview with BNR. An official statement on the matter is expected later today from the DPS faction around Dogan.
