"The unilateral decision of Dzhevdet Chakarov to leave the chairmanship of DPS-DPS is a pitiful personal capitulation to Delyan Peevski (leader of DPS - New Beginning). Such actions are in sharp contrast to the moral and democratic principles on which the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party is built." This is stated in a declaration of the parliamentary group of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DPS" and the Central Operational Bureau of DPS, distributed to the media.
"We firmly state that there cannot be a unification with people who repress and mistreat an entire community. There is no unification with traitors! Dzhevdet Chakarov betrayed our cause, ideals, values, betrayed 200,000 voters, betrayed the trust of Mr. Dogan," the declaration also reads, BNR reporter Daniel Inkov informed.
Earlier today, the chairman of DPS - New Beginning, Delyan Peevski, after a meeting with Dzhevdet Chakarov, announced that the two DPS factions - DPS-DPS (around Ahmed Dogan) and DPS - New Beginning, were merging. Chakarov himself resigned as chairman and member of the parliamentary group of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" - DPS and became an independent MP.
Hayri Sadakov will replace Dzhevdet Chakarov as the chairman of the parliamentary group of the DPS-DPS.
