National sheepbreeders’ festival draws visitors from all over the country near the St. Peter and Paul Monastery

The national sheepbreeders’ festival is bringing together people from the sector, fans of tradition, folklore, and healthy farm food, as well as of old-time culinary tradition, near the St. Peter and Paul Monastery today, BNR’s correspondent in Veilko Tarnovo Zdravka Maslyankova reports. Thousands of people from all parts of the country are expected to flock to the three-day fair.goats

Native, local and rate species of sheep and goats, cows and buffalos bred in this country will be presented at the large-scape exposition of purebred animals, within the frameworks of the festival taking place near the town of Lyaskovets.  “Some of the more interesting exhibits include a ram of the newest breed – Millennium – created in Bulgarian conditions and suited for breeding in all climatic conditions,” says Simeon Karakolev, chairman of the National Sheep and Horse Breeding Association and main organizer of the event.

The forum will also feature an exposition of farming technology, equipment, fodder, specialized literature and medicinal products for animal husbandry. There will also be sheepdog shows and expositions of elite horses, donkeys and ducks, as well as a national folklore competition.
