President Rumen Radev and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed expanding transport, energy, and digital connectivity between Bulgaria and Turkey during a phone call, the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reported, citing the presidential press office. The two leaders emphasised that improving these connections is crucial not only for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and mutual investment but also for benefiting the entire region.

Radev and Erdogan agreed that the development of friendly relations between the two countries stimulates partnership in all areas of mutual interest. The presidents also gave a positive assessment of the bilateral partnership on security, including the fight against illegal migration. In this context, the Bulgarian head of state emphasised joint efforts to reduce migration pressure on Bulgaria.

Radev praised Erdogan's mediation efforts in the Russia-Ukraine war and expressed hope that a mutual agreement on the cessation of military actions would be reached soon.
