The Bulgarian Maritime Training Center, is seeking state assistance to accelerate the procedures for the sale of the ferries "Heroes of Sevastopol" and "Heroes of Odessa" and the ship "Atanas Dimitrov", manager of the center, Dencho Dobrev told BNR Varna. In this way, the state-owned company is trying to reduce its costs, while at the same time looking for ways to increase revenue. According to him, it can no longer maintain the vessels, as this is expensive. For the "Heroes of Odessa", a decision to privatize them was made by the parliament back in 2019, but there are still no buyers. Until 1989, before the democratic changes, the ferries, built in 1978 in Norway, served the Varna - Odessa line.
Dobrev pointed out that the Bulgarian Maritime Training Center will continue to develop its activities in training maritime personnel. Last year, 3,300 people underwent training through the center, 15% of whom were foreigners.
