Bulgaria will send a new request for a second payment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan in July, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev announced during parliamentary control.
"If everything goes well, we could receive the second payment in September," he said. According to him, the third payment could be received before the end of the year, BTA reported. This means that by the end of 2025, Bulgaria could receive half of the funds under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Deputy Prime Minister Donchev said.
He recalled that as a result of negotiations with the European Commission, an agreement was reached to drop the commitment to liberalize the electricity market for household consumers at this stage. In addition, the position of the Bulgarian government is that the country has already fulfilled its commitment related to the Roadmap to Climate Neutrality and no additional steps in this direction are needed. The EC has shown understanding regarding Bulgaria's position that a final date for the closure of electricity generation capacities should not be set by law.
