Pomorie will host the International Festival of Orthodox Music ‎for the 21st time

On June 11, at 8:30 in the morning, with the traditional welcoming of the icon "Sveta Bogorotisa - Dostoino est" (Theotkos - It Is Truly Meet) in front of the church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the 21st edition of the well-established International Festival of Orthodox Music in the popular seaside resort of Pomorie will be launched. 


The festive events will continue at 5:00 p.m. with the opening of the icon painting exhibition of the young artist Katerina Katsarova - "Image and Presence", in the lobby of the National Community Center "Prosveta - 1888".

 At 6:00 p.m., after a welcoming speech by His Eminence Metropolitan Arseny of Sliven and the Mayor of Pomorie Ivan Aleksiev, the first festival concert will begin.

Over 30 ensembles specializing in the interpretation of Orthodox music are participating in the choral festival this year. Among them are prestigious Bulgarian ensembles such as the "Dobri Chintulov" mixed choir at the National Community Center "Zora - 1860" from Sliven, the Choir "Ave Musica" from Sofia, the Choir "Pokrov na Presveta Bogoroditsa" at the church of the same name in the capital and the Academic Chamber Mixed Choir "Gaudeamus" at the Prof. Asen Diamandiev Music Academy in Plovdiv.

Especial interest is aroused by ensembles such as En choir from Vienna and the Choir for Women's Composition from Yerevan. ‎

The festival will be closed on June 15 (Sunday) with the Holy Liturgy in the churches "Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos", "Holy Transfiguration of the Lord" and in the monastery "St. George the Victorious" in Pomorie, and at 11.30 the final solemn concert will begin.‎

The idea for the International Festival of Orthodox Music in Pomorie was born in 2003 and was realized for the first time in 2004. ‎
