An organizing committee, supported by the opposition nationalist party Vazrazhdane, organized a protest in front of the building housing one of the ruling parties – GERB – in Sofia. The protesters are demanding a referendum on the date of Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone.
The protest also demanded the resignation of the government. The crowd used smoke bombs in front of the building where there are many other offices as well, including of the TV station bTV, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. “We want to say we do not agree with the policy of the government, and not just our administration, we are talking about things globally, the policy of the EU in this global world. There is a real danger we will be stripped of our Bulgarian identity, Bulgarian morality, Bulgarian traditions, everything that Bulgaria has achieved,” a protester told the BNR.
