30 years ago, the imposing Reichstag building in Berlin was dressed in silver fabric in one of the most spectacular actions by the Bulgarian-born artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude. Now a light installation resurrects this event, BTA reported.

Until June 20, after nightfall on the Reichstag facade, twenty-four powerful projectors mounted on scaffolding reproduce an image of the silver wrapping of the German parliament from 1995. The celebration of the 30th anniversary aims to "bring together everyone who lives and visits this city to commemorate what happened at that time," the organizers note.

The wrapping of the Reichstag, 1995
The original idea of the world-famous art tandem Christo and Jeanne-Claude included 110,000 square meters of silver fabric, which completely enveloped the parliament building. It took more than twenty years for the impressive idea to see the light of day. Its realization was preceded by heated debates in political circles, before it became a huge popular success for the internationally recognized Bulgarian.

On June 13 this year, Christo and Jeanne-Claude would have turned 90, and three of their largest projects are celebrating anniversaries. These are "The Gates" in New York, created in 2005, the wrapping of the Reichstag (created in 1995) and that of the oldest bridge in Paris - Pont-Neuf (in 1985).
