Bulgaria’s National Assembly rejected the proposal by the Vazrazhdane party to summon Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev for a hearing regarding the vote by the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, which adopted a report on North Macedonia’s progress towards EU membership. Vazrazhdane MP Kostadin Kostadinov called on the government to resign, stating that ''with this vote our country has suffered a humiliating defeat''.

GERB leader Boyko Borissov said in Parliament that the government is making efforts to resolve the issues with North Macedonia. He pointed out that such developments would not have occurred if he had been Prime Minister. Boyko Borissov noted that he had spoken with Manfred Weber and representatives of the European People's Party (EPP), assuring that the European Parliament's report is non-binding. In Boyko Borissov’s words, the amendments will be proposed by the entire European People's Party and will not be circumvented. "The EPP is not only the largest but also the most powerful and we will be able to do so to protect our history and our country",  added Boyko Borissov, as quoted by BTA.
