During joint inspections by the National Revenue Agency, the Commission for Protection of Competition and the Commission for Consumer Protection, price increases of between 5 and 83% were found. The chair of the Commission for Protection of Competition, Rosen Karadimov, announced that price increases were found in 25 cities.
This gave the Commission for Consumer Protection grounds to issue over 40 fines for unjustified price increases, the head of the commission, Maria Filipova, said.
The most drastic price increase was found in a retail outlet in Veliko Tarnovo, where the largest overall price jump was also recorded. The lowest price increase was in Plovdiv.
