A large fire stretching about 10 kilometers is burning east of the town of Karnobat, Burgas district, reported the mayor of Karnobat Municipality Georgi Dimitrov. Due to strong winds, extinguishing the fire is difficult, said BNR’s correspondent Kalina Encheva.

"The fire is close to a pine forest and could potentially reach it. Firefighting teams, many volunteers and equipment are on site", said Georgi Dimitrov. In his words, the fire is already approaching houses.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Due to the fire, Burgas Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov will activate the national early warning system BG-Alert for the first time. The fire has also led to the closure of a section of republican road III-795.
