“July”: Summer is everywhere

Photo: Georgi Dimitrov

We’re stepping into July with the song of the same name — a track from P.I.F., the Bulgarian band that released it a decade ago. With its light reggae groove, “July” still brings a relaxed summer vibe.

Written and composed by frontman Dimo Stoyanov, the song features seagulls calling in the background. In the video, however, Dimo and the rest of P.I.F., joined by friends, are strolling along Vitosha Boulevard in downtown Sofia.

It’s July, and summer is everywhere.

This story, my friend,
may one day come to an end,
but it is just starting.
It all began on the beach,
in July...
Was it the break of a day,
or the fleeting of night—
it's for them to say.
The sun gleams warmly on them,
only on them,
in July...
