Eight helicopters, not the initially planned six, will be used to provide emergency medical assistance by air in this country, Health Minister Silvi Kirilov told journalists. Seven of them will be financed with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the eighth – with state money, BNR reporter Elena Beikova informed.

Currently, three helicopters are available and by the end of the year we expect two more, Silvi Kirilov said. Together with Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, he showed representatives of the European Commission the first licensed helipad at the St. Ekaterina University Hospital.

Of the planned 21 helipads, 14 have been built so far. The teams that are currently working on the aircraft are twelve, but more specialists are being trained.
