16-year-old Bulgarian tennis player Ivan Ivanov won the Wimbledon junior singles title with six consecutive victories and not a single lost set! In the final, the Bulgarian from Rafael Nadal's academy convincingly defeated US qualifier Ronit Karki with 2:0 sets, in the individual parts 6:2, 6:3 after 57 minutes of play. With his great performance, Ivan Ivanov has climbed to the first place in the world junior rankings this week, the Bulgarian Tennis Federation announced.

"To have the privilege of playing on court No. 1 in the Wimbledon final is something unique for me and I really did not expect it," Ivanov said in an interview for the federation's website. The Bulgarian player shared that the most difficult thing for him was in the semifinals, when he won 7:6(7), 7:6(5) against Max Schönhaus (Germany). Thus, he avenged his loss to the German in the semifinals of Roland Garros in June this year.

Ivanov's next goal is the US Open.

The only title for Bulgaria at Wimbledon to date was also won in the juniors by Grigor Dimitrov in 2008 - the year Ivan Ivanov was born.

Another Bulgarian talent - Alexander Vassilev, ended his participation in the semifinals of the juniors' Wimbledon, after losing in a contested match against Ronit Karki - 7:5, 4:6, 2:6.
