During operation “Orient Express”, customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing seized a record amount of 205.9 kg of cocaine. This is the largest amount of cocaine seized at the land borders in Bulgaria, the press center of the Customs Agency reports. A Bulgarian, a diplomat from Congo in Brussels and a Belgian citizen were detained for illegal trafficking.

The car with diplomatic license plates was driven by a Bulgarian citizen. A citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo with diplomatic status and a woman with Belgian citizenship were travelling from Belgium through Bulgaria to Turkey. During the inspection, a sniffer dog drew attention to 5 suitcases. When they were opened, 179 packages of cocaine worth 18 million euros were found hidden inside.
