During a one-day official visit to London at the invitation of the British side, Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev held a bilateral working meeting with the UK’s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy. The two ministers discussed the progress of, and future prospects for, their strategic partnership in key areas, including security and defence, the economy and trade, education, science, innovation and high technology.

“Bulgaria is an important partner of the United Kingdom in Europe, from security in the Black Sea to the development of high technology. Our shared interest is clear: a safer and more prosperous continent,” emphasised Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

A particular focus of the talks was cooperation in combatting illegal migration and organised crime. Mr Lammy expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its active role and close collaboration in this area. “The fight against illegal migration is a shared responsibility. For Bulgaria, it is a matter of honour to contribute to the security of all European citizens,” said Minister Georgiev.
