Protecting the rights of Bulgarians in the region is a priority for Bulgaria’s foreign policy

Democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights are the pillars of Bulgarian diplomacy.This was what Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said at the ceremonial reception at the Boyana Residence on the occasion of the Day of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Service, BTA reports. 

In his speech to the diplomatic corps, ministers and members of parliament, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev pointed out key national achievements such as full membership in Schengen by land and accession to the Eurozone on January 1, 2026. “The European integration of the region remains our strategic priority. Progress depends on the implementation of reforms, good neighbourliness and the rule of law,” Georgiev added. He also pointed out the importance of protecting the rights of Bulgarians and historical communities in the region.
