By the end of the second quarter of 2025, a net monthly income of BGN 2,748 (€1,331) is required to support a household of two adults and a child under the age of 14. A single person in work needs BGN 1,526 (€739) per month. These figures come from the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research at the Confederation of Independent Tradeunions in Bulgaria (CITUB).

The income required to meet basic living expenses has increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, and by 5.1% year-on-year. Compared to the same period in 2024, a three-person household now needs BGN 133 (€65) more per month, while a single worker requires BGN 73 (€35) more.

If current legislation remains unchanged, the minimum wage will rise by 12.3% from 1 January 2026, reaching BGN 1,212 (€587), CITUB president Plamen Dimitrov said at a press conference, as quoted by BTA.
